She says: ‘I am about to begin my ski conditioning programme and the Power Plate will be a major component of my training for conditioning my core and legs.’

Based on the concept of vibrational therapy, Power Plate exercises muscles without putting any strain on the joints.

The vibration constantly moves your body by a tiny amount, making your muscles minutely contract and relax even when tensed.

This works more muscle fibres while boosting blood and lymph circulation.

All you have to do is stand on the vibrating platform and assume a series of different postures. ‘Power Plate offers everything you need to get yourself fit for skiing,’ says Power Plate’s Lars Harms.

‘Start off with some gentle dynamic stretches lasting 30 seconds each – focusing on the hamstrings, thighs, hips and lower body.

Next concentrate on building strength in the legs with positions such as pulsing squats and lunges.

Hold each for 60 seconds. Then move on to some core muscle exercises like the plank and finish off with stretches and massage. Lars recommends doing around two-three sessions a week.
